How Cecilia and Alex met…
On a sunny Newport Beach, Saturday afternoon in 2017, Cecilia and Alex
never expected to meet the love of their lives. But it is those unexpected moments that make for the most incredible love stories. Cecilia had heard from her father and brother about this new “French guy” working with a friend but did not think much about it beyond that point.
However, one day when her father invited Cecilia to join him for a quick lunch at Malarky’s, Cecilia would finally lay eyes on this mysterious French man she had heard about!
Sitting right across from her, was Alex.
Smitten, Cecilia squeezed her Dad’s leg, thinking to herself why she didn’t pick out a cuter outfit for the occasion. The two chatted, as Cecilia offered Alex some of her fries, and the rest is history.
Maybe it was the salty air, the hamburger, the French connection, who knows? But whatever it was, it was surely meant to be.
Often invited to the Cassini family home for dinner, (because he was friends with Cecilia’s little brother and dad) Alex,
remembers one night specifically where on his ride home he could not stop
thinking about Cecilia’s eyes. There was a sparkle and kind spirit to them that
made him ponder about something his father once told him: “you can see
the kindness of an individual by looking in their eyes, the gateway to the soul.”
Instantly he knew he had to pursue her. To Alex, Cecilia was “one of a kind, with
an affectionate smile and contagious energy he couldn’t get enough of.” In Alex’s exact words, “I was in awe. Passionate about the look she had when she was looking at me. The sparkle in her eye looked as though there was a star right in front of me. We quickly connected and I was in lust. Her smile was affectionate, her energy contagious, I didn’t want
to let her out of my sight.”
For Cecilia, it was also more than love at first sight, although she admits Alex was
the most handsome man she’s ever seen, immediately capturing her attention. Cecilia said, “my dad always told me when he met my mom, he had a little voice in his head saying, she could be my wife.” Well, when I met Alex I had that same little voice in my head, he could be my husband.” He makes me feel safe and understood in all that I am. The bond we share is incomparable, we are each other’s best friends and could spend every second of every day together and fall even more in love. The love we share is pure magic.
Alex asked Cecilia to officially be his girlfriend on her 18th birthday on a cake that he so thoughtfully planned with Cecilia’s brother to ensure that it was a surprise!
They then moved in together in Cecilia’s first year of college, only after about 6 months of dating and knew it would either be a make or break! It was a MAKE!
The Proposal…
Unbeknownst to Cecilia, Alex asked Cecilia’s father for his blessing the night of her 22nd birthday. With his blessing, Alex got to work planning a magical proposal in Paris, France last September, 2021. Many were in on the surprise and kept the secret for MONTHS! To make it extra special, both sets of parents were in Paris for the momentous moment. While Cecilia thought they were in Paris for the High Holidays Cecilia recalls walking around with her mom when her father called panicked, reminding her she had only one hour to get ready for a fancy dinner and boat ride (supposedly with their friends)and that they need to go back to the apartment immediately . All dressed up and on their way to the “boat ride,”Alex took Cecilia over their favorite bridge, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him.
